PERFORMANCE OF BROILERS FED LOCAL VARIETY OF
PEARL MILLET REPLACING MAIZE ADDED WITH MULTI-ENZYME
Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal.
The nutritive value of local variety of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) was evaluated in broilers replacing maize added with multi-enzyme on isocaloric and isonitrogenous basis. In the starter (0-3 weeks) weight gain (629.8 g) was significantly higher (P<0.01) in T4 while in finisher (4-6 weeks), T2 (1013.0 g) showed better performance. The dressing % and carcass composition was comparable. The feed cost per kg weight gain was lower in T2 group by Rs. 1.80. It was concluded that, PML added with multi-enzyme can be effectively and economically included at 50 % replacing maize in the broilers diets.
